Cosmetic Injectables

As we age, it's natural for fine lines, wrinkles and sagging to appear on our faces, but that doesn't mean we have to embrace them. Thanks to advancements in cosmetic treatments, we now have effective solutions that can help us maintain a youthful and fresh appearance.

What Is Wrinkle Treatment Injections?

Wrinkle injections, also known as neurotoxin injections or muscle relaxants, are a popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. These injections primarily target dynamic wrinkles, which are caused by repetitive facial muscle contractions over time. Common areas treated with wrinkle injections include lateral cantal lines (around the eyes/smile lines/crows feet), gabella lines (frown lines), and frontalis (forehead/horizontal lines).

How Do Wrinkle Injections Work?

The primary ingredient in wrinkle injections is a purified protein derived from the bacterium clostridium botulinum, known as Botulinum Toxin Type A. When injected into specific facial muscles, it temporarily blocks the nerve signals responsible for muscle contractions. By relaxing these muscles, the overlying skin becomes smooth, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and preventing the formation of new ones.

What Are Skin Boosters?

The skin booster Nyma uses contains the following ingredients: HA, Arginine, Glutathione, N-acetyl , L-cysteine, alpha – lipoic acid, leucine isoleucine, valine, glycine, lysine, threonine, proline, vit b 6, zinc, copper.

Treatment Process

Consultation: If it is your first treatment, before undergoing cosmetic injections, it is essential to Skype a doctor for brief consultation. During this consultation, your medical history, expectations, and desired outcome will be discussed. Nurse Nyma will also assess your facial anatomy and determine the appropriate treatment plan for you. Some common side-effects will be discussed like bleeding, bruising and swelling.

Injection Procedure: Cosmetic injections are administered through a series of small, virtually painless injections directly into the targeted area. The procedure is usually quick, taking around 10-15 minutes depending on the extent of treatment required.

Results and Recovery: For wrinkles, there is usually minimal downtime, allowing you to resume your daily activities immediately. Wrinkle treatment results typically start to become noticeable within a few days, with the full effects appearing within 1-2 weeks. However, for skin booster, there will be noticeable superficial bumps on your skin that eventually absorb into the dermal layer over 48 hours. Therefore, it is recommended to consider planning this treatment prior to a weekend with limited social events. Wrinkle treatment injections last for approximately 4 months and skin booster results will last between 6 - 12 months (sometimes longer depending on how the skin is maintained).

Aftercare: It is recommended not to touch or rub the treated area and avoid exercise for the rest of the day. More information relating to the aftercare process will be explained in more detail during the treatment.

As of the 1st July 2023, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) require all clients receiving a non-surgical (and surgical) procedure to complete a Body Dysmorphic Disorder Screening Questionnaire prior to receiving a script for ALL cosmetic injectables.

This questionnaire will need to be completed within the appointment requiring a new script.
